DCCI move to launch retired experienced persons' platform for country's development

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has initiated a move to launch a platform of retired experienced persons so that they could contribute to the country's development process.
"We have taken an initiative to form the platform under the banner of experts' resource association (ERA) so that they could contribute their respective experience to the development process of the country," president of DCCI Md Sabur Khan told the FE.
With this end in view the board meeting of the trade body has approved the initiative on Thursday aiming to expedite the process.
He said that most of the retired experienced persons in different fields could easily contribute some more years to the country's development process as they seem to be more energetic and vibrant.
Citing the development process in Malaysia, the DCCI boss said that retried experienced persons in Malaysia have tremendously been contributing to their country's uplift process.
He said that during their (DCCI delegation) visit to Malaysia in September last they had discussed with the Malaysian retired experienced persons in different fields to know their contribution to their country's development.
Malaysian retired experienced persons have also expressed their interest to share their knowledge with the local retired experienced persons so that they could contribute to the development process of Bangladesh, he added.
He said the DCCI is going to invite the Malaysian retired experienced persons to visit the country in December next to help assist the Bangladeshi retired experienced persons, making them able to contribute to country's development.
"The Malaysian retired experts having vast knowledge in different fields will visit Bangladesh in December. During their visit, they will share their views and experience with the local retired experienced persons to make them able to contribute to the country's (Bangladesh) development process," Mr Khan said.
Bangladesh exported products worth $100 million to Malaysia, including products worth $69 million from readymade garment (RMG) sector while Malaysia exported products worth about $1.6 billion to Bangladesh during the fiscal year (FY) 2012-13.
