EXIM Bank includes 500 more students into scholarship programme

EXIM Bank has created a springboard for a good number of poor but meritorious students in their journey to turn them into skilled human resources through offering stipends to them.
"Since 1999, we are offering the stipends to the students and more 500 will be added today (Sunday)," an EXIM Bank source told The FE.
With the latest addition, the Bank has enrolled as many as 2000 students from around 370 reputed educational institutions from all over the country.
Under the Bank's Education Promotion Scheme, quard or profit(interest)-free loan is provided for poor but meritorious students to help them bear monthly educational expenditure including academic expenses, food, accommodation, etc. The quard is disbursed to the selected students in monthly installments till their accomplishing the master degree. Under this programme the students are required to repay the amount (only the principal amount) in long-term monthly installments after they have joined a confirmed job accomplishing their education properly.
Presently, 178 poor but meritorious students from a number of reputed educational institutions like Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Dhaka Medical College, BUET, RUET, KUET, CHUET, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology etc. are enrolled under this programme.
