Exploring influence of AI and technological progressions

Especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic, we have observed shifts that substitute certain traditional HR tasks, compelling an adaptation to technological advancements. It resembles a butterfly effect, where even the slightest alterations can generate ripples, leading to a significant impact on the final outcome.
The organisation transitions to the initial screening or interviewing phase online, utilising video conference tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, among others. Additionally, employing platforms like Testmoz and various online assessment tools allows for conducting assessments remotely. This contrasts with the previous practice where candidates had to travel from distant areas to take paper-based assessments, incurring both financial and time-related expenses. In contemporary times, we observe virtual awareness sessions that can easily accommodate large groups of people.
Google Forms, SurveyMonkey, and other online tools are presently aiding employers in collecting feedback from the workplace. In specific tools, reports are automatically generated after input, and customisation options are also available. Hilton Worldwide utilises an AI-driven tool named 'Team Member Insights' to analyse employee data, pinpointing potential sources of bias in hiring and promotion decisions. This tool offers recommendations to enhance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
In a Gartner survey conducted in July 2023 with 520 HR leaders, it was identified that HR technology ranks among the top five organisational priorities for HR leaders. Organisations are presently recruiting tech-savvy professionals who find it more convenient to access information while on the move, making geographical location less relevant.
HR chatbots contribute to fostering a responsive, agile, and employee-friendly HR environment by offering round-the-clock support, ensuring both employees and job seekers receive immediate responses to inquiries irrespective of time zones or working hours. As organisations pay attention to paperless workplaces, conventional HR services are gradually being replaced by online alternatives such as digital database management, time tracking, and online portals.
Some organisations are presently leveraging AI-driven performance reviews to automate tasks such as comprehensive data analytics, emphasising employee strengths, identifying improvement areas and facilitating real-time tracking of KPI achievements. Furthermore, AI provides personalised insights into individual employee performance, eliminating biases influenced by human factors.
Individuals have become accustomed to self-paced learning and the circumstances of e-learning. PepsiCo employs an AI-driven learning platform known as 'PepsiCo X,' utilising AI algorithms to assess employee skills and competencies. It suggests personalised learning paths aligned with the employee's career objectives and the organisation's requirements.
ChatGPT positively impacts HR activities by improving communication, drafting documents, and virtual assistance in many decisive factors. Many global companies have also developed their own GPTs. For instance, Microsoft has Bing AI, and Google has Bard. In the HR domain, there is TalentGPT by Beamery. A company's essence lies in its people, not only in technology.
