Govt allocates Tk 610m for Visit BD Campaign

The government, for the first time, has allocated Tk 610 million to successfully complete the tourism marketing plan, the Visit Bangladesh Campaign. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader disclosed this while speaking at the inaugural session of a workshop as the chief guest in the city Thursday, reports UNB. The minister said Bangladesh is a potential country for tourism due to its geographical location, natural beauty, rich history and heritage, diversity of culture and the great hospitality of its people. Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), the newly floated national tourism board, organised the workshop with a view to finalising the marketing plan of the Visit Bangladesh Campaign. Chaired by BTB Chairman M Ataharul Islam, the session was also addressed, among others, by United Airways (Bd) Limited Director Dr ATM Nazrul Islam and BTB Chief Executive Officer Alim Uddin Ahmed. The minister said although Bangladesh has a great potential for tourism, it is never highlighted in the past to draw attention of foreign tourists as well as utilise its natural beauty. He said that the present government is very keen to expand the country's tourism industry aiming at earning more revenue from this sector.
