The Je Ne Sais Quoi team from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University won the global round of Battle of minds held at London recently for its unique concept of a ride-hailing platform for auto-rickshaws that allows users and riders to negotiate a fare they feel is optimum. The app developed in context of Bangladesh has other features such as caller ID masking, ride schedules, hiring a Tryke, etc., says a press release.
British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT Bangladesh) has been organising this contest since 2004; this competition is a skill development platform for the youths of Bangladesh bridging the divide between academia and industry. This year marks the 15th episode of Battle of Minds with the competition transcending to the global stage. With 33 participating countries, the best teams across the world went on to compete in the regional rounds, with three finalist teams battling it out in the global round in London to clinch the ultimate glory.
A total of 3,300 students from 42 universities in Bangladesh participated from Bangladesh this year. The challenging part for the participants was to fit in their case on how it will cater to the market of Bangladesh and facilitate in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Shehzad Munim, managing director of BAT Bangladesh said, "We remain committed to the development of human resources in Bangladesh. We are proud to witness this unique concept that originated in BAT Bangladesh transcending to a global level. I congratulate the winning team - you have made us proud."
