IBB prize-giving ceremony held

FE Report The prize- giving ceremony of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (IBB) was held at Hotel Purbani in the city Tuesday. President of IBB and governor of the central bank, Dr Atiur Rahman distributed prizes among the winners as chief guest. Forty six prizes were handed over to a number of winners who did well in different subjects in the banking examination of 2008 and 2009 respectively. The prizes include 7 gold medals, 5 silver medals and cash. Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman has hailed the IBB authority for its contribution to the banking sector from 1973 through making all arrangements for banking diploma. Mr Rahman has emphasized on making more experts through IBB as the new experts would lead the banking activities in future. The central bank governor also suggested the IBB authority to make changes in syllabus and curriculums of the institute according to the demand of the time. IBB general secretary Abdul Matin said, "Recognition of the students would encourage others to do well which would make a positive impact on the national economy." "Till now IBB has given certificates to about fifty thousand bankers," IBB general secretary informed. Presided over by Managing Director and CEO of Sonali Bank Ltd and also vice-president of IBB, Humayun Kabir the function was attended among, others, by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Janata Bank Ltd SM. Aminur Rahman. Bangladesh Bank, Sonali Bank Ltd, Janata Bank Ltd, AB Bank Ltd, Bangladesh Development Bank Ltd, Agrani Bank Ltd, Bangladesh Krishi Bank Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank Ltd, BASIC Bank Ltd, Uttara Bank Ltd and the Rupali Bank Ltd have sponsored the prize- giving programme.
