Leadership colloquium on ICT in healthcare begins in city

Leadership colloquium titled ICT in Healthcare began in the city Friday in order to find out the easy way of reaching health service across the country by using communication technology.
Telemedicine, Telehealth, Mobile Health, Patient Record Management, and Hospital Management are the topics of the two-day colloquium.
LifeSize, a division of Logitech which is one of the world leaders in HD (high definition) video collaboration, gave a presentation on video conferencing about telemedicine.
The firm is providing telemedicine service in different countries of the world and it recently started its activities in Bangladesh also.
'Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services' according to the Wikipedia.
Rohit Mahajan, regional sales manager of the company, said people will enjoy highest benefits from remote video conferencing for health service as it reduces travel costs and environmental footprints.
He said ICT will be providing a unique platform at the conclave in demonstrating the unique benefits that will be improving the quality and reach of communication and information relayed across the healthcare sector in the country.
LifeSize 220, a demonstration of the firm, will be redefining and delivering better care and ensuring improved patient services at any time and location across the country, at a very minimal cost, he told the FE.
