Load-shedding hours to be reduced in Nepal

March 05, 2012 00:00:00

KATHMANDU, Mar 4 (Xinhua): Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has cut the weekly load-shedding hours to 62 from 78 effective from March 5.
The NEA said this has been possible due to the accumulation of adequate water in the Kulekhani Reservoir and the effectiveness of the measures to control the electricity leakage.
Although the water volume in rivers is in a shrinking trend, the load shedding hours have been reduced in view of the upcoming School Leaving Certificate examinations.
As per the load shedding schedule, there would be power outage for 10 hours on two days, for nine and half hours for two days, for eight and half hours for two days and for six hours for one day in a week.
