Nepal to import power from India

KATHMANDU, Dec 15 (Xinhua): Minister of State for Energy Suryaman Dong said that Nepali government was planning to import energy from India to reduce the possible long-hour power outage in the country. Speaking at a face-to-face program in the capital Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dong said that the government had started doing necessary homework regarding the import of power from India. The agreement has been signed for importing 130 mw of electricity immediately, he said. The country will be possible face around 18 to 20 hours power outage in this situation, he said that it was necessary to import energy form India to address the long power outage.
