Having a theme "Ensuring Sustainable Development through Good Governance", the first session of NSU Model United Nations Conference 2015 will kick off on July 30..
The three-day conference will be a simulation of the United Nations assemblies offering a ground for the youth to learn and practice the art of diplomacy. The conference will be organised by NSU Model UN Club which is a student based nonpolitical organisation emphasizing on building up leadership and creativity among the students using UN concept. The Secretary General of the Conference Zunayeed Noor Alam said "NSUMUN Conference will provide a platform from where young delegates will learn many indispensable topics of the current world and also they will provide imaginative solutions of their own". "An enthusiastic team of organisers are working unremittingly to present an ornamented conference," added Ahnaf Tahmid, the president of NSU Model UN club.
As many as 500 delegates will join the conference from different universities and other MUN clubs throughout the country. One of the largest delegations represents BUP Global Affairs Council (BUPGAC), a council that works for MUN under Bangladesh University of Professionals. The organisers also ensure highly competitive executive board that includes executives from and outside Bangladesh to provide the standard and transparency of the conference.
The conference consists of 10 different committees including United Nations Security Council, Human Rights Council, Environmental Programme, Industrial Development Organisation, SAARC etc. Committees will have different agendas in which delegates will raise motion, debate and give optimum solutions for the current problems of the world and its environment. Young students will be given the empowerment to act like an UN official and think creatively. The delegates will also talk about sustainable development initiatives of the world while representing their respective educational institutions and also the country. There will be more than 40 awards that will be given among the delegates based on their performance. Apart from the formal sessions the conference will offer monumental opening and closing ceremony and social night where delegates will make friendship and establish networking among themselves.
The practice of Model United Nation in Bangladesh is still quite new among youths. Obviously such conference will ensure the adaptability and competency of our new generation to keep pace with the progressive world.
