Scholastica School has once again delivered the school students with the opportunity to fight it out in the grand battle of wit and logic. With a total of 56 teams competing from institutions including Academia, St. Joseph, Sunnydale, Mastermind, European Standard School (ESS) and Dhaka College, this was one of the biggest debate competitions in the country held at Mirpur campus of Scholastica School. The battle was eventually won by team Academia A consisting of Srijon, Wasif and Shadman with the runner-up being Mastermind A comprising of Warish, Rehnuma and Zaid. The second runner-up for this tournament was Dhaka College.

Throughout the weekend from the 18th of February to the 20th, 2016 the young intellectuals debated about motions ranging from the entertainment industry, politics, to social issues. Debate, like any sport, provides the much needed adrenaline rush as complex cases are being argued and broken down. More importantly, the discussions and arguments over the podium give birth to new ideas, empathy and equip one with the understanding of what may be wrong with society.

Debate goes a long way to develop critical thinking and reasoning. For a moment, these students learn to think outside the sphere of security provided by their own family and society. The students also are exposed to a whole wide world of human problems and issues that require solution. This creates responsible individuals and citizens who in the long run are more capable to put questions and shape policies and choose governments that are most able to move the country ahead championing action against corruption and alleviating poverty.

Facilitation of such events for students from young age will go a long way to create a society that has the ability to ask, empathize and create effective solutions to real problems.
