Exhibition at the Expo Zone at Mobicon 2016


MobiCon 2016 recently took place at Independent University of Bangladesh. Google Developer  Group (GDG) along with  Preneuer Lab brought developers, designers, innovators, development thinkers, tech enthusiasts and representatives from telecom brands under one roof to showcase the future of mobile computing and networking.  Head of Digital Services-Robi Axiata Manzur Rahman,  Head of  Internet of Things - Grameenphone Ravider Parsher and Country Marketing Consultant - Google Bangladesh Hashmi Rafsanjani were there among many to witness the jaw-dropping hard work and contribution of the teams who brought forward their innovations in mobile app technology  to overhaul the country's mobile industry to the next level. The daylong event was divided into various segments including show casing innovation, idea sharing, technology talks, workshops, code labs, panel discussions and an award show.
The Expo Zone at the MobiCon 2016 was inaugurated by the chief guest Shameem Ahsan, President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and the Guest of Honour Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). Mobile enthusiasts of various ages were present at the expo zone. The event had special attractions such as T-shirts, stickers and variety of other gifts. Potential investors and mentors were present in expo and from the expo participants they chose the best endeavours for the "Mobile Innovation Award." Four code-labs and extensive coding sessions were held where Android Face Detection API was introduced.  The top three innovative apps from the participating 20 apps were awarded.  The award winning apps were- Rx 71 (a health service related app), Kanamachi Station (a mobile interactive voice response based radio service) and Eat Kit (restaurant featuring app).
Under the same roof an informative session TechTalk took place simultaneously where the maestros in mobile technology sector shared their views about the latest condition of the sector. One big finding announced was on an average 12 phones are being sold in every single minute in Bangladesh out of which seven are smart phones.
Google Developer Group Dhaka Advisor and the Chief Executive Officer of PreneurLab  Arif Nezami said, "This initiative is to showcase the amazingly growing mobile eco-system of Bangladesh. It will act as a platform to connect the dots and bring out something innovative like bKash".
