Bangladesh has developed a world trade directory to help the business community explore new opportunities across the globe, officials at the Bangladesh Tariff Commission said Wednesday.
The directory will be launched at the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry auditorium on July 14.
Commerce minister GM Quader and Civil Aviation and Tourism minister M Faruk Khan will be present at the launching ceremony.
"The trade directory will help local businessmen get many trade-related queries instantly," commission chairman Md Md Mozibur Rahman.
He said trade-related information of 170 countries will be available in the directory.
Business persons will get country-wise detailed information about their export products and destinations.
A detailed list containing imported goods and services by each country has been incorporated into it, officials said.
Information on port facilities and air shipment are also inserted in the directory.
"Information on regional trade and free trade agreements of the countries has been included in it so that business people get a picture about the targetted market," Mr Rahman added.
He said the directory contains data on products available in each country and their market sizes.
He said Bangladesh's comparative advantages with different nations are also described in the directory.
A BTC official said interested persons will be able to log in the directory free of charges.
The commission has been working for the online directory over the last one year, he said, adding this will be updated every quarter.
