Total invests $700m in US

PARIS, Jan. 3 (Xinhua): France's leading energy producer Total announced Tuesday the acquisition of a quarter of shale gas deposits' capital in the United States for 700 million U.S. dollars.
Via its subsidiary Total E&P USA, the French group finalised the agreement to create a joint venture with Chesapeake Exploration and EnerVest Ltd.
