Weekly tea sale sees strong demand

The weekly tea sale in Chittagong witnessed Wednesday strong demand for a small weight of good liquoring types that were often substantially dearer following competition.
The remainders were absorbed at around last levels, according to a market report.
There was more support from both Blenders and the Loose Tea buyers. Dusts were a dearer market following more competition.
CTC LEAF: 12,041 packages and 794 packages of Old Season on offer met with an improved demand.
BROKENS: Good liquoring Brokens were in strong demand and were generally firm to dearer particularly as the sale progressed. These varieties could be quoted between Tk 173- and Tk 188- per Kg. Other types were also in good demand but were a touch easier. There was less withdrawals.
FANNINGS: There was an improved demand for bright liquoring Fannings which were much dearer and these could be quoted between Tk 168- and Tk 180-. Medium and plainer types were easier in line with quality.
CTC DUST: 1,608 packages and 172 packages of Old Season on offer met with a better demand at mostly dearer rates. Better liquoring varieties met with more competition and were dearer by Tk 5- and more especially the CDs. Others also sold well and were fully firm to slightly dearer. Both Blenders and Loose Tea buyers lent more support.
