XIAMEN, Sept 11 (CEIS): The ministry of commerce is investigating potential economic and trade cooperation zones outside China, and will probably open some recently.
According to Vice Minister Wei Jianguo, these zones under investigation belong to second group after the first Group Of Eight (G8).
The ministry plans to set up economic and trade cooperation zones all over the world in the following one or two years, without preference to certain countries or regions.
"The establishment of overseas economic and trade cooperation zones is a major task launched by the ministry in 2006," said Xu Tongkai, inspector of the Department of European Affairs under the ministry of commerce.
"It is a very important action showing that the Chinese government is encouraging and supporting competent Chinese enterprises to enter the international market," Xu explained.
The first group of zones won tenders include Pakistan Haier-Ruba Economic Zone and Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, which are playing an important role in pushing Chinese enterprises towards the world, promoting local employment rate, and boosting international cooperation.
The next targeted areas are Europe, Central Asia and countries bordering on China such as Vietnam.
