BEIJING, July 26 (AFP): China will introduce new rules to improve the safety of its toys, as the country's massive industry faces international condemnation over its exports, a top official was quoted as saying today.
The world's biggest maker of toys, China will test each new product for safety risks before it can be manufactured, the China Daily newspaper quoted Wang Xin, head of inspections at the country's product-quality watchdog, as saying.
The agency also will implement random factory inspections and sample testing, he said.
"Toys are always a top concern of ours as they'll be in the hands of children," said Wang of the General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
