Eurozone retail trade down in July

BRUSSELS, Sept 4 (Xinhua) Eurozone's retail trade fell by 0.4 per cent in July 2008 compared with June 2008, said Eurostat, the statistical service of the European Union (EU), yesterday. brEurozone retail trade dropped by 0.9 per cent in June compared with the previous month. brFor the 27-member EU, the volume of retail trade rose by 0.1 per cent in July after a drop of 1.2 per cent in June. brIn July 2008, compared with July 2007, the retail sales index decreased by 2.8 per cent in the euro zone and by 1.1 per cent EU-wide. brIn July 2008, compared with June 2008, food, drinks and tobacco dropped by 0.9 per cent in the Eurozone and by 0.1 per cent in the whole EU. The non-food sector fell by 0.1 per cent in the Eurozone, but rose by 0.3 per cent EU-wide.
