Amar Moner Kotha (My Mind Speaks) is the latest book written by Mr Waliul Huq Khandker, retired Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Senior), Government of Bangladesh. Actually it is a compilation of four books written by him - two new and two published earlier. In the introduction chapter of the book the author mentions that the compilation was done to cut production cost so that all books, so far authored by him, are available to readers at a cheaper price compared to the cost of individual purchase of each book in one hand and on the other hand to present all his experiences and ideas at a time to them. He has been successful in his attempt as the book with its excellent and attractive cover page, foot prints in a sea beach with waves of the sea at the background, easily draws attention of readers and also gives a fine first hand impression about the contents of the book. The book contains three books  in Bengali  (1) Shei Shob Kotha (Those Memories), newly published, (2) Pechhone Takiye Ja Dekhlam (What I Saw Looking Back), published earlier, (3) Godhuli Belay Kothopokothon (Twilight Reminiscences), published earlier, and one book in English (4) Simple Thoughts, newly published. The first and second books contain 17 articles/short stories each, the third one 22 and the last one 11. None of the articles/short stories is a fiction; all are facts, personal experiences and thoughts.

The Bengali books contain articles/short stories based on actual events and facts, light hearted and entertaining episodes, analytical features on socio-economic realities in Bangladesh, travel stories and thought-provoking articles of religious nature. There is variety in the contents - humorous anecdotes, philosophical discussions, religious insights, personal realisations, reminiscence of the past years etc. The books attract readers with their flowing narrative, smooth style of essays. The writer has freely revealed his feelings and thoughts in his mature age, having lived a full and rich life so far, some of which will be good examples to follow for the next generations.

The English book - Simple Thoughts - contains 11 articles written by him and published in leading English daily newspapers of Dhaka - The Daily Star and The Financial Express. The topics cover his experiences and ideas on Audit, his field of specialisation, and other areas of common concern. These are very interesting and thought-provoking for all types of readers. The articles deal with national problems like good governance, accountability, failure of development projects, checking corruption, deteriorating health care etc. Putting all the newspaper articles in the book will also help the enduring storage of erudite texts.

Apart from these things the book delivers a strong message towards character building which is needed most these days in our social arena. From this book the readers will also gain some insight into spiritual area, which very often gets lost from our sight during our feverish attempts of getting worldly wealth and comfort, which will help them to prepare for the days after the end of days in this world. It is hoped that readers will be benefited through reading this book.
