Islami Ins Bangladesh AGM approves 10pc dividend

The ninth annual general meeting (AGM) of Islami Insurance Bangladesh Limited has approved 10 per cent cash dividend for the year that ended on December 31, '08.

In his presidential address, Mr Islam disclosed that during the year 2008 the company had earned premium of Tk 232.60 million and the total asset of the company stood at Tk 237.80 million.
During the period the company secured good position among the existing general insurance companies by earning a net profit of more than Tk 18.80 million, he pointed out.
He further said that the company had been established to provide facilities of property insurance based on Islamic Shari'ah to the business community and general public.
He thanked members of the board of directors and shareholders for their cooperation in achieving desired success of the company.
The shareholders present at the meeting expressed satisfaction over the performance of the company and reiterated their confidence in the board and approved the audited annual accounts and balance-sheet for the year that ended on December 31, '08.
The shareholders also assured the management of their support for the betterment of the company augmenting new business in the years to come.
Among others, Vice Chairman Md Ismail Nawab, Chairman of the Executive Committee Tofazzal Hossain and Vice Chairman (Claims Committee) Md Abdul Halim and directors Nur Mohammad Mamun and Mohammed Abdul Hannan and Managing Director Md Abdul Matin, Additional Managing Director Md Mujibur Rahman and Company Secretary Muhammad Nurul Alam Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
