KATHMANDU, June 25 (Xinhua): Nepali joint secretary at the ministry of foreign affairs Dinesh Bhattarai Sunday informed that Nepal would soon furnish its view on International Arms Trade Treaty (IATT) to the United Nations (UN), Nepali national news agency RSS reported today.
Speaking at a discussion program organized by Small Weapons Network on arms trade treaty yesterday in Kathmandu, many Nepali lawmakers and civil society activists recommended forging an understanding among ruling political parties for the treaty.
They urged Nepali government to send views on treaty as to keep up international image of Nepal at the earliest.
The UN General Assembly that took place in December 2006 had urged all member countries to furnish their views on feasibility and constraints of the treaty to UN General Secretary by June 20, 2007.
