Nepal trains workers selected for employment in S Korea

KATHMANDU, Aug 3 (Xinhua): Nepali government has started providing orientation training to workers who have been chosen in the final selection for employment to South Korea, the National News Agency RSS reported today.

The employment promotion system (EPS) section of the department of labour and employment promotion has given orientation to 500 of the 6,768 people who passed the Korean language test earlier this year.

The selected workers have been imparted training on the South Korean social, economic and legal systems, as well as general information on the works they have to do and their responsibilities in South Korea.

Laxmi Sharan Ghimire, Chief of the EPS section, said final preparations are being made for sending 113 Nepali workers the South Korean government has selected to go to the country in the first phase.

He said they will arrive in South Korea by the end of this month. The Nepali workers are going there for the first time under the EPS.

Under the EPS, only the government can send the workers to South Korea. Officials at the department said that efforts would be made to send all the workers who have passed the language test to South Korea for foreign employment through initiatives at the diplomatic level.
