KATHMANDU, Mar 5 (Xinhua): The real income of the Nepali people is estimated to shrink by over 8 per cent during the current fiscal year, due to an almost three times higher inflation rate than the growth in per capita income, local media reported today.
According to preliminary estimates prepared by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the per capita income of the Nepali people is expected to reach 32,000 Nepali rupees (some 390 U.S. dollars) at current prices, 5.4 per cent higher than last year's 30, 361 rupees (some 370 dollars).
However, as the rate of inflation is expected to hover around 14 per cent, real incomes are estimated to contract during the current fiscal year, according to myrepublica.com report.
