BEIJING, Aug 16 (CEIS): China's rural residents are catching up with urban residents in life style with the economic growth and more cash income, according to the latest sample survey by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The survey on 68,000 rural families in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities shows that farmers' expenses in 2006 averaged 2,829 yuan per capita, up 274 yuan over the previous year.
Farmers in economically developed eastern China like to spend money on televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and even motor vehicles and computers popular in urban families.
