SINGAPORE, July 23 (AFP): Singapore's annual inflation rate in June was 7.5 per cent, kept up at a 26-year high by food, housing and transport costs, the government said today.
Last month's rate was the same as that recorded for May and April. But analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires had expected 7.9 per cent.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.4 per cent in June compared with May, the department of statistics said.
It said food prices rose 9.2 per cent year-on-year in June and that housing increased 13.4 per cent, while transport and communication surged 5.1 per cent.
