S'pore economy expected to grow 6.1pc in Q2

SINGAPORE, June 13 (Xinhua): Economists forecasted that Singapore's economy will expand by 6.1 per cent in the second quarter this year, a central bank survey said yesterday.
Conducted by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the survey received respondences from 16 economists and analysts of private sector.
They also expected the Singapore economy to grow a median 6 per cent this year, which is higher than their previous forecast of 5.4 per cent in March.
Singapore's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 7.9 per cent last year. While the government recently raised its economic growth forecast this year from 4.5-6.5 per cent to 5.0-7.0 per cent.
