SINGAPORE, Aug 26 (AFP): State-linked Singapore investment firm Temasek Holdings said today it had received a capital injection of 10 billion Singapore dollars (7.0 billion US) from its shareholder, the Ministry of Finance.
The capital injection was made in April last year, Temasek's senior managing director international, Michael Dee, said during a press briefing to unveil its annual financial results.
Asked if the capital injection was made at the request of Temasek, Dee said: "I don't believe so."
"Our shareholder made that decision. We do not make that decision," he added.
Dee also said the 10-billion-dollar injection was not targetted at any specific investment. Rather, the funds went into Temasek's investment pool, he said.
"It simply becomes part of the aggregate investment pool," he said.
Temasek announced Tuesday a record profit of 18.2 billion Singapore dollars for the year to March 2008.
During the financial year, its portfolio value rose 13 percent to 185 billion Singapore dollars from 164 billion dollars the previous year, Temasek said.
