Thai inflation slows to 6.4pc as oil prices fall

September 02, 2008 00:00:00

BANGKOK, Sept 1 (AFP) Thailand's inflation rate in August fell back from a 10-year high to 6.4 per cent mostly due to falling world oil prices, the commerce ministry said today. brInflation dropped significantly from July, when it reached another decade peak of 9.2 per cent amid high fuel and food prices. brThe drop is because of a sharp fall in oil prices, as well as a fall in utility prices such as water, power and public transport, said Siripol Yodmaungcharoen, permanent secretary of the commerce ministry.
