BEIJING, Mar 17 (Reuters): Central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan was nominated Monday to stay on as China's central bank governor.
The nomination will be formally put to a vote later by the National People's Congress, the largely ceremonial parliament, which usually overwhelmingly approves bills and appointments put forward by the ruling Communist Party.
Zhou's name was on a list of top-level appointments submitted by Premier Wen Jiabao and read to parliament on his behalf.
Other names on the list included Commerce Minister Chen Deming.
Ma Kai, until now head of the National Development and Reform Commission, was nominated as a state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, China's cabinet.
