At least 10 people were killed in two road accidents in Habiganj and Chittagang Friday.
According to an UNB report, at least six people were killed and several others injured in a triangular collision involving a bus, a microbus and a motorcycle at Tugli on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bahubal upazila. One of the deceased was identified as Rokan (26), son of Lokoj Miah of Judgepaul village in the upazila.
Police and witnesses said the microbus collided head-on with the Dhaka-bound bus on the highway around 4:30pm after its driver lost control over the steering.
As the two vehicles came to a standstill after the collision, the motorbike crashed into those from a connecting road. The accident left four people dead on the spot and several others injured.
The injured were rushed to Bahubal Upazila Health Complex where two of them succumbed to their injuries.
Our correspondent from Chittagong reports: Four people including two vehicle drivers were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collission between a bus and a covered van on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at its Sitakunda point in Chittagong Friday.
Traffic on both sides of the highway was suspended for about one hour following the accident.
Beat police of Baro Awlia said the incident occurred as a Chittagong-bound bus of Israt Paribahan collided with the Dhaka-bound covered van at Shuklarhat at around 6.45 in the morning. It left three persons dead on the spot and seven others injured.
The injured were rushed to Sitakund a upazila health complex but later shifted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Bus driver Abul Kashem (35), van driver Obaidulla and bus passenger Zarina Begum (42) died instantly while Nazmul Hasan (24) succumbed to his injuries at the CMCH.
