129 so far win in JS polls

The unofficial results showed 129 candidates were so far elected in the 10th parliamentary polls held in 147 constituencies of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Sunday.
As per the unofficial results available until our going to press at 11.30pm, Awami League candidates won in 99 seats, Jatiya Party 14 and others in 16.
The voting was held in 147 seats on the day as 153 others were elected unopposed earlier. The voting began at 8:00 am amid tensions as the major opposition BNP and its allies boycotted the election terming it one-sided.
UNB adds: Prime Minister and Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina was unofficially declared elected from Rangpur-6 constituency. Sheikh Hasina bagged 148,599 votes while his rival Jatiya Party candidate Nur-e-Alam Jadu polled 4,959.
However, in Lalmonirhat-1 constituency, AL candidate Motahar Hossain defeated JP Chairman H M Ershad by a huge margin of 171,449 votes. Motahar bagged 179,276 votes, while Ershad polled 7,827 votes.
In Dhaka-1 constituency, Jatiya Party candidate Salma Islam defeated Awami League candidate Abdul Mannan Khan by 5,505 votes. Salma bagged 54,036 votes, while Mannan Khan, also former state minister for housing and public works, polled 48,331.
In Gazipur-4, Awami League candidate Simeen Hossain Rimi was unofficially declared elected. Simeen, also the daughter of country's first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad, received 112,887 votes, while her nearest candidate M M Anwar Hossain of Jatiya Party polled 7,833.
In Sherpur-3, AL candidate Fazlul Haque was unofficially declared elected. Fazlul Haque got 96,334 votes, while his rival independent candidate Hedayetul Islam bagged 8,548. Hedayet is the nephew of Fazlul Haque.
Jatiya Party candidate Yahiya Chowdhury Yahiya and Awami League contestant Imran Ahmed were unofficially declared elected in Sylhet-2 and Sylhet-3 constituencies respectively.
Yahiya bagged 48,236 votes, while his rival independent candidate Muhibur Rahman polled 17,545. On the other hand, Imran got 62,655 votes, while independent candidate Faruque Ahmed, also a leader of the USA unit of Awami League, got 24,165 votes.
In Panchagarh-2, Awami League candidate Nurul Islam Sujon was unofficially declared elected. Sujon received 108,100 votes, while his rival candidate Emran Al Amin of JSD bagged 7,116 votes.
In Meherpur-1, AL candidate Farhad Hossain Dodul was unofficially declared elected. Farhad bagged 79,449 votes, while his nearest independent candidate Yearul Islam polled 14,030.
In Meherpur-2, the ruling party rebel candidate defeated Awami League contestant.
In Sherpur-1 constituency, AL candidate Atiur Rahman Atique was unofficially declared elected. Atiur bagged 207,606 votes, while his rival JSD candidate Monirul Islam Liton polled 5,312.
In Kishoreganj-3, JP candidate Mujubul Haque Chunnu was unofficially declared elected. Chunnu, also state minister for sports and youth of the polls-time government, bagged 79,392 votes, while his rival independent candidate Dr Mizanul Haque polled 16,474.
In Kurigram-1, JP candidate A K M Mostafizur Rahman was unofficially declared elected in the 10th parliamentary election. Mostafizur bagged 67,007 votes, while his rival independent candidate M Abdul Hai Master polled 29,311.
In Mymensingh-3, Awami League candidate Mujibur Rahman Fakir was unofficially declared elected. Fakir bagged 43,673 votes, while his nearest rival independent candidate Naznin Alam polled 15,123.
In Munshiganj-2, AL's Sagufta Yasmin Emily was unofficially declared elected. Sagufta got 130,318 votes, while her rival independent candidate Mahbub Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikaram) bagged 8,461 votes.
In Bogra-4, JSD candidate A K M Rezaul Karim was unofficially declared elected. He bagged 22,203 votes, while his nearest candidate Nurul Amin of Jatiya Party polled 13,489.
In Tangail-5, AL candidate Sanwar Hossain was unofficially declared elected. Sanwar bagged 67,959 votes, while his rival independent candidate Murad Siddique polled 59,398.
