13 killed, 40 injured in tragic road mishap

CHITTAGONG, July 14: At least 13 people were killed and 40 others injured as a bus skidded off a bridge into a roadside ditch in a tragic accident in Fatikchhari Upazila Saturday morning. Police said the Ramgarh-bound bus coming from Mirersarai rammed into the railings of the Jorashetu Bridge in the hilly area and tumbled 150 feet down at about 9:55am. The three who died on the spot were identified as Sadia Begum (60), Sohel (30) and Helaluddin (34). Two of the injured who died at the Feni hospital were identified as Mohiuddin (32) and Aliar (32). Five other deceased are Abdul Mannan (38), Babul Hossain (32), Shefali Das (40), Manju Das (21) and Shamsuddin Ahmed (31). Three of the dead could not be identified immediately. —UNB
