13 more die as 1289 positive

Bangladesh reported 13 more fatalities and 1289 new cases in the 24-hour period ending at 8:00 am on Saturday.

With these the total number of deaths and new cases reached 6,049 and 4,18,764 respectively since March, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a statement.

According to it, 11,419 tests were conducted at 114 laboratories during the reporting period.

The DGHS reported fatalities at 1.44 per cent, new cases at 17.23 per cent and recovery at 80.37 per cent.

Some 1541 people recovered from the deadly disease in the period, which took the total figure to 3,36,568.

The new deaths included 11 males and 13 females, while nine of them were aged over 60 years.

Two were aged between 61-60, one was within 41-50 and the remaining one was within 21-30 years.

Dhaka division reported highest 7 deaths in the 24-hour period, three died in Rangpur, two in Sylhet and one in Khulna division.

Currently 39,931 people including the latest 462 people have been kept in quarantine, and a total of 12,161 people including 139 afresh are staying in isolation to help prevent the further virus spread.

Bangladesh reported the first case on March 8 and first death on March 18.
