13 more die in dengue

Dengue claimed 13 more lives in the 24-hour period until Saturday morning, taking the death toll from the Aedes-borne fever to 466 as of now.

Also, another 1,983 dengue positive cases were also hospitalised during the period, resulting in a total number of hospitalised cases to 97,860.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed these figures in its daily health bulletin on Saturday.

Of the 1,983 fresh hospitalised cases, 738 were taken to healthcare facilities inside Dhaka city and the remaining 1,245 elsewhere across the country.

Currently, a total of 7,895 dengue patients are hospitalised inducing 3,691 in Dhaka city and 4,204 in other regions.

During the 24-hour period, 1,648 dengue patients were released from hospitals across the country during the

reporting period.

The ongoing August has been the worst month of the year in terms of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease and hospitalised dengue cases.

The first 19 days of August witnessed 215 deaths and 46,028 hospitalised cases, whereas 204 deaths and 43,854 hospitalised cases were reported in July.

Some 34 deaths were reported in June and two deaths in May and April each.
