Another 136 Bangladeshi nationals, including five women and 4 children, were evacuated from the civil war-torn Yemen to Djibouti on Friday by an Indian naval ship (INS).
They are expected to leave Djibouti on April 20 for Dhaka.
With this a total of about 500 Bangladeshis have been evacuated from Yemen to Djibouti.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait, stationed in Djibouti, received the latest batch of evacuees from Hodeida, Yemen, at the seaport, said a foreign office statement.
"Bangladesh is operating a repatriation control room there, led by the ambassador to Kuwait, to conduct the overall repatriation process as the country has no mission in Yemen and Djibouti," it said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is providing them food, shelter and other logistic supports during their stay in Djibouti and making arrangement for their onward journey from Djibouti to Dhaka by a special flight of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
According to the ministry sources, about 2,500 Bangladeshi nationals are living in Yemen. Among them, more 550 Bangladesh nationals have so far registered for coming back home from the troubled country.
Earlier, about 360 expatriates had been evacuated to Djibouti mostly by the INS.
The government plans to bring them to Cochin Port in Kerala of India from where they will be back to Bangladesh by Biman's special flights. They are now on their way to Cochin by two Indian naval ships.
By this time India has called off its own rescue mission, but its naval ships remained operative for the help of other nationals.
A large number of foreign nationals at least from 26 countries, including Bangladesh and India, have remained stranded in Yemen due to the raging civil war and consequent Saudi airstrikes.
