With 1,436 new cases, the tally of Covid-19 confirmed cases crossed 0.4-million mark in Bangladesh, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The overall number of infections reached 400,251 from 2,271,347 samples tested so far across the country.
Bangladesh stepped back by two positions to 18th place in the global standing as far as the rate of infections is concerned.
However, death toll continued rising here as 15 more cases succumbed to the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the DGHS data showed.
With the latest fatalities, the number of deaths stood at 5,818 as of October 26, 2020, and the fatality rate stood at 1.46 per cent, the official figures showed.
On Monday's health bulletin on coronavirus, the DGHS said a total of 13,758 samples were tested across the country since Sunday noon.
Of the tests, 1,436 samples were found positive for COVID-19 along with 15 more deaths recorded during the reporting period, it mentioned.
"With these numbers, the overall tally of confirmed cases and deaths rose to 400,251 and 5,818 respectively," said DGHS additional director general Dr Nasima Sultana.
Of the total deaths, 51.65 per cent were recorded in Dhaka division followed by Chattogram (19.89 per cent), Khulna (7.98 per cent), Rajshahi (6.36 per cent), Rangpur (4.49 per cent), Sylhet (4.16 per cent), Barisal (3.40 per cent) and Mymensingh (2.08 per cent).
At the same time, according to the DGHS data, 1,493 patients have recovered, taking the entire tally of recovery to 316,600.
The recovery rate rose to 79.10 per cent.
Globally, more than 40.4-million people have caught coronavirus and 1,160,542 died until 7:00 pm on Monday, said worldometer.info, a coronavirus updater.
