Eighteen more people died from coronavirus on Sunday with the government reporting 1,568 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24-hour reporting time of the day.
With the latest figure, the number of total casualties from Covid pandemic has reached 5,941 since the virus was first detected in Bangladesh in March.
According to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 15 males and three females died from Covid in the last 24 hours.
Some 12,549 samples were tested during the period, while a total of 12,620 samples were collected across the country, it also said.
The rates of fatalities and detection from the disease remained almost unchanged at 1.45 per cent and 12.58 per cent respectively on the day.
A total of 1,795 people recovered from Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, it mentioned.
