Genocide charges

3 more cases filed against Hasina, aides

At least three more complaints were lodged with the investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal in Dhaka on Wednesday accusing the recently ousted premier, Sheikh Hasina, and several others.

Charges of crimes against humanity and genocide perpetrated during the student-led quota-reform movement from July 15 to August 05 have been brought in the case statements.

Supreme Court lawyer Md Asad Uddin filed a complaint on behalf of Md Abdul Matin, a Mymensingh resident and father of Sheikh Shahriar Bin Matin who died on July 20 after being shot during the movement.

He filed another complaint on behalf of MA Razzak, a Magura resident and father of Md Asif Iqbal who died on July 19 after being shot in Mirpur area.

Lawyer Md Huzzatul Islam Khan filed the third complaint on behalf of Md Zakir Hossain, a Barishal resident and father of Faisal Ahmed Shanto who was killed during an anti-quota rally at Panchlaish, Chattogram, on July 16.

Other accused in the cases are former AL ministers and lawmakers Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Anwar Hossain Monju, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan, Anisul Huq, Salman F Rahman, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Hasan Mahmud, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

The list also included Mohammad Ali Arafat, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Shamsul Haque Tuku, Elias Uddin Mollah, Tariqat Federation chairman Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, former top lawmen Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Harun-Ar-Rashid, Habibur Rahman, Harun-Or-Rashid and Biplob Kumar Sarker, Chattogram City Awami League president Mahtab Uddin Ahmad and secretary Nasir Uddin, Chattogram city mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and others.

Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and other front organisations of the party, many unidentified members of these organisations and police members have also been made accused in the petitions.
