BENAPOLE, June 14: Customs officials at the Benapole land port withheld release of 4,000 tonnes of sugar imported from India while 20,000 tonnes more were waiting entry to the port. Officials said the 2006-09 import policy announced on May 16 made mandatory submission of quality certificate from BSTI of the sugar imported for their release from the port. The action worried the importers who said the measure might give rise to price. —UNB
