SIRAJGANJ, Aug 16 (NB): Thousands of passengers suffered a lot as a 60-km tailback was created on Dhaka-Bogra highway on Friday following a road accident.
Police said two goods-laden Dhaka-bound trucks drove into the road divider on the western side of Bangabandhu Bridge around 5:30am, disrupting traffic on the highway.
The accident created a 60-km tailback from Patila in Raiganj upazila of the district to Karotoa in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail. Although both trucks were removed from the spot by a wrecker after several hours, the situation could not be normal at 3:30pm due to huge pressure of vehicles as many people who went to their ancestral homes to celebrate Eid were returning to the capital on Friday.
