According to the results of the higher secondary-level examinations published Wednesday, 1330 of the academic institutions boast an all-pass record while 50 go down with no students passing.
Education Minister Dipu Moni handed over the result summary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina earlier in the day. Thereafter, chairmen of the education boards handed over the results of their respective board to the prime minister, says a UNB report.
Education Minister Dipu Moni announced the results at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka, setting off celebrations by those who attained success in crossing the intermediate level in academic life, especially those who scored the highest grade.
A total of 1,177,387 students sat for the 2022 exams under the 11 education boards of the country. The number was 1,306,718 in 2021.
In 2022, a total of 176,282 students secured the highest grade, GPA 5, compared to 189,169 in 2021.
Girls outshine boys in terms of securing GPA 5 as 95,721 girl students secured the highest grade against 80,561 boys.
Among the highest-graders, 159,755 secured GPA 5 under nine general education boards, 9,423 in Madrasa Board, and 7,104 under Technical Board.
The pass rate for the nine general education board is 84.31while for Technical Board 91.2 per cent and for Madrasa Board 92.56 per cent.
Under the nine education boards, the pass rate under Dhaka Board is 87.80 per cent and 62,421 got GPA 5. The pass rate of Chattogram Board is 78.76% with 12,670 GPA 5; for Rajshahi Board the rate is 81.59 per cent with 21,855 GPA 5; for Sylhet Board 81.4 per cent with 4,781 GPA 5; for Jashore Board 83.9 per cent with 18,706 GPA 5; for Dinajpur Board 79.6 per cent with 11,830 GPA 5; for Mymensingh Board 77.3 per cent with 7,179 GPA 5; for Cumilla Board 90.7 per cent with 14,991 GPA 5; and for Barishal Board 86.95 per cent with 7,386 GPA 5.
The exams were held from November 6 to December 13 last year. The exams were held at 2,649 centres and 9,181 institutions across the country.
A Bdnews24.com report says female students once again surpassed their male peers in both the pass and GPA 5.0 rates.
Of the 567,865 girls who took the exams, 87.48 per cent passed. By comparison, the pass rate among the 609,522 boys who appeared for the tests was 84.53 percent.
And 95,721 of the females achieved a GPA of 5.0, which is 15,160 more than their male counterparts.
The overall pass rate in the 2022 higher secondary exams dropped to 85.95 percent from a record 95.26 per cent a year before.
The exams commenced in November last year after an inordinate delay caused by a combination of the coronavirus pandemic and deadly floods in the northeast of Bangladesh.
