ACC files separate cases against 17 more bigwigs

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Sunday filed eight separate cases against 17 persons, including former Energy Adviser Mahmudur Rahman, Awami League Joint General Secretary Obaidul Quader, business tycoon Salman F Rahman and Managing Director of Globe Construction Ltd Atiqullah Khan Masud, reports UNB.
Among the cases, four cases were filed with Motijheel police station, three with Paltan police station and one with Ramna police station.
In Motijheel police station, ACC Deputy Assistant Director Mahmud Hasan filed three separate cases against Atiqullah Khan Masud and five RAJUK officials and employees.
Police said RAJUK authorised officers Fouji Md Bin Farid, Asaduzzaman, Kamruzzaman Khan, former RAJUK building Inspector Sohrab Miah and its MLSS Akram Hossain were accused in the cases for destroying government documents.
ACC Assistant Director Mahbubul Alam registered another case with the police station against Salman F Rahman and six others, including three Sonali Bank officials for misappropriating more than Tk 1.08 billion (108 crore).
The co-accused in the case are Shine Pukur Holding Ltd Chairman ASF Rahman, its Managing Director (MD) and former Energy Adviser Mahmudur Rahman, Director Iqbal Ahmed, former MD of Sonali Bank Skeikh Aminuddin, its Deputy Manager (credit division) Abu Taher and its former Deputy General Manager ASM Nurul Huq.
The complainant in the case alleged that the accused persons, in connivance with each other, misappropriated over Tk 1.08 billion from the bank by misusing power and cheating.
In Paltan police station, ACC Assistant Director Ashraf Hossain lodged three cases against detained AL Joint General Secretary Obaidul Quader for allegedly taking Tk 14.2 million from different contractors to give them work order while he was Chairman of National Sports Council.
In Ramna police station, another case was filed against Atiqullah Khan Masud, his wife and one son and a daughter for submitting false wealth statements to ACC.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Mahmud Hasan lodged the case against Masud, his wife Shamim-a-Khan and his son Mishal-a-Khan, daughter Eishal-a-Khan for concealing their wealth in their submitted statements to the Commission.
