ACC gives clean chit to Hasina, 26 others

FE Report | February 04, 2015 00:00:00

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has exonerated 27 people, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Bangabandhu Novo Theatre graft cases.

"All the accused in the cases were cleared of charges on January 22. They all had been exempted from the cases after submission of final report," ACC Chairman M Badiuzzaman told reporters Tuesday afternoon.

Hasina was made the prime accused in the three cases filed with Tejgaon police station on March 27, 2002.

Sheikh Hasina and some of her cabinet members of the then Awami League government were sued for corruption and irregularities in Bangabandhu Novo Theatre project.

The now-defunct Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC) filed the three cases.
