Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said Tuesday that action would be taken against Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique, already under fire from different quarters for his derogatory remarks, through discussions once Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returns home, reports UNB.
With minister Latif Siddique incurring wraths from different quarters for his disparaging remarks against Hajj, Tablig Jamaat and the PM's son, his cabinet colleague Obaidul Quader said one should not make irresponsible comments holding a responsible position.
"All should act wisely while holding responsible posts. It's not proper to make any comment or manifest any behaviour which causes embarrassment to the party," Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said.
Quader was talking to reporters after inaugurating a newly-constructed footbridge over Dhaka-Aricha highway at Savar Bus Stand.
Describing PM's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy as Awami League's future leader, the minister said, "He is the information and communication technology affairs adviser to the Prime Minister, too. It's not appropriate to make such comments against him."
About Hasina's role, he said the Prime Minister has been lauded by the world community for the steps taken by her present government to root out militancy from the country.
Venting his anger at the posters with his photographs along with the party men attached with the footbridge, Quader directed the authorities concerned to remove those immediately.
He also expressed his displeasure at the noncompliance of his earlier order to dismantle floating markets on the road at the Savar Bus Stand.
Replying to a query, the minister said action will be taken if anyone is found guilty of charging homebound people extra fares ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Local MP Dr Enamur Rahman, former vice-chairman of Savar upazila parishad Abdul Goni and high officials concerned accompanied the minister.
