AL, allies to propose 31-pt electoral reform in dialogue with EC

Awami League meets Saturday with the components of the 14-party alliance to strike out identical views before making their proposals on electoral reforms at the dialogue with Election Commission. Party sources said similar discussion will be held with left-leaning parties outside the 14-party combine including CPB who believed in the sprit of Liberation War. Under the programme, a meeting with Workers Party will be held Saturday at the residence of AL acting president Zillur Rahman. Talking to newsmen, AL presidium member Tofail Ahmed, who has been entrusted with the job of maintaining unity among the parties, said similar meetings will be held with JSD on October 1 and Samyabadi Dal (M-L) on October 3. Discussions will also be held with Gano Forum, Ganatantri Party, NAP (Muzaffar), Gano Azadi League and others of the 14-party alliance. Tofail said the alliance had been formed on the basis of a 31-point reform proposal to the EC. —UNB
