AL-backed candidates leading in elections

The ruling Awami League-backed mayoral candidates were leading in the results of Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation elections until counting of the votes was going on at 10:30 pm on Tuesday.

In the early results of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) poll, AL-supported mayor candidate Annisul Huq bagged 38,588 votes, while BNP-backed candidate Tabith Awal got 28,752. In the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), ruling party-favoured mayoral candidate Sayeed Khokon bagged 27,605 votes, while BNP-backed candidate Mirza Abbas got 17,423.   

On the other hand, Awami League-supported mayor candidate AJM Nasir Uddin bagged 92,755 votes in Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), while BNP-favoured Manjur Alam got 39,553 votes.    smjahangirfe@gmail.com
