AL demands JS polls in Nov

After two days' hectic parleys, the Working Committee (WC) of Awami League (AL) Monday demanded that the Jatiyo Sangsad (JS) polls be held in November, reports UNB.brThe WC meeting also demanded immediate and unconditional release of party president Sheikh Hasina, saying that it would not participate in the stalled national election without her.brThe long-awaited parliamentary polls must be arranged in November, as the Election Commission's (EC) preparation is going to be completed by thetime. We have also taken a decision that AL will take part in the parliamentary polls only under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, AL acting general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam told reporters at the party's Dhanmondi office.brBriefing the journalists after the meeting, which was adjourned until 11am Monday, Ashraful said all the cases against Sheikh Hasina will have to be withdrawn before the election.brHe said the AL WC thought that the parliamentary polls will not be acceptable to the people as well as to the international community under the state of emergency. brSo, we ask the government to fully lift the state of emergency before all the elections, Ashraful said.br
