PABNA, Sept 27 (UNB): Prime Minister's Adviser for Administration and Establishment H T Imam has flatly denied involvement of ruling Awami League (AL) in frustrating the test for recruitment of lower grade employees on September 17 when office was vandalised and senior officials assaulted.
A former bureaucrat Imam and state minister for Home Shamsul Haq Tuku had a closed door meeting with all sections of district officials in a bid to mollify them. About 100 district officials attended the meeting that lasted for two and a half hours before the Maghrib prayers.
Later, PM's Adviser briefed the newsmen about the outcome of the lengthy discourse. Replying to a volley of questions Imam said, "Jubo League and BCL are not the front organisations of Awami League."State Minister Tuku who flanked Imam hastened to add, "Even they belonged to Awami League, we have taken action against them pending investigation into the allegations of their involvement in (September 17) the incidents."
Imam claimed the officers attending the meeting informed him that the situation had been highly exaggerated by the media. It did not roll to the extent the media reflected.
When pointed to the photographs of assaulted weeping officials Imam said, "Such photos can be cooked up."
He further claimed there was no tension nor the administration was suffering from lack of insecurity. Administration is facing no problem now. Everything is all right.
Asked if the trouble triggered for exerting pressure on the administration for recruitment of ruling party cadres the PM's Adviser said, "There can be tadbir. But we want to see that no anti-liberation elements, war criminals or those linked with terrorists and communalists are recruited" in government jobs. Imam pleaded ignorance about the statement of the Health Adviser to Prime Minister who had said none outside the ruling party will be recruited in Community Health Service.
