Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed Thursday said whoever is affected by the cyclone, no matter whatever the number is, will be brought under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme beginning next month, reports UNB.
The free feeding programme will continue for four months until March next year. "I have told the Chief Adviser that whatever the number is, be it 26 lakh, 27 lakh or 28 lakh, all the affected people to be found on the ground will be brought under the VGF programme," he said while receiving cyclone-related donations from various institutions and individuals for the Army Relief Fund.
General Moeen received cheques for about Tk 22 million (2 crore 20 lakh) and different relief materials at the Army Headquarters Officers Mess. Chief of General Staff Maj Gen Sina Ibne Jamali and other senior army officers were also present.
The Army Chief said they would provide nets, boats and construct houses for fishermen who lost everything to the cyclone 'Sidr" and also participate in rehabilitation programmes in other sectors.
