The city development authority is likely to allocate the rest of the residential plots of its two housing projects this week as the process has almost been completed, officials said Thursday.
Officials of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) said Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is scrutinising the applications submitted in civil servants, service-holders of autonomous organisations and personnel of defence forces categories as per the government guidelines and criteria and correcting minor flaws.
"The process has almost been completed. BUET is now doing the minor things to make the process flawless. Hopefully, we will be able to allocate the rest of the plots this week," a senior Rajuk official told the FE.
Another Rajuk official, on condition of anonymity, however, said the allocation might take place tomorrow (Sunday).
Rajuk with technical support from a team of Computer Science and Engineering Department of BUET has so far held three rounds of lottery and allotted about 2,558 plots of Uttara Model Town (3rd Phase) and Purbachal New Town Project in categories of journalists, foreign exchange earners, freedom-fighters, artiste, sportspersons, industrialists and businessmen, private job-holders, lawyers and justices.
But the plot allocation for MPs, civil servants, service-holders of autonomous organisations, personnel of defence forces and selected journalists is yet to be completed. The Rajuk earlier said the process would be completed by this December.
Officials said the Rajuk is taking time as the state-run city developer wants to allocate the rest of the plots in the two projects at a time.
Applicants in ministers, state ministers and lawmakers' categories would be given plots directly, while government servants, autonomous organisation jobholders and defence personnel would get plots on the basis of seniority and salary structure.
Sixty plots have also been set aside for selected journalists and would be distributed on the basis of seniority and salary scale, officials said.
Allotment of remaining plots this week likely
